Great views of Mt. Rainier in the distance. We started late and completed our hike using head torches in the dark, and had to extra careful because the toads ventured onto the path once the light went.

Beautiful waterfall, but we were even more fascinated by a 4 mile long large wooden pipe that ran beside the trail some of the way - an industrial relic that was a work of art.

Hard, dry, ground, nearly bare hillsides, burnt vegetation, this is all a new experience for us. The cache hadn't been found for a long time, and had suffered in a fire last year or the year before.
