Another one of the very best of the best, and one of the very few TOP CACHE awards for a cache I hadn't found - two DNFs, a year apart, both late in the day. But another year on, a third visit, a long and most determined search, meant I was able finally to add it to my "found it" list 🙂.
What a moody and desolate place, the most atmospheric of any cache location I've visited, a truly awesome place for a cache.

I love getting out on the water. This time I left "Amberel" (my cabin cruiser) at home and took the inflatable dinghy a couple of miles out into the Medway Estuary. It's surprising, but wonderful, that places like this old fort remain accessible.
One of the top TOP CACHES.

A DNF last year after getting to within 80 feet of the cache from two different directions, but unable to spot how to "bridge the gap". But a determined repeat effort saw me at the cache location on the second attempt.
I love it that there still remain such wild places in the busy, bustling South East of England.

A superb trail of caches along the Medway - accessible only from the river. The Medway is a great choice, not only because it is a quiet waterway, but it is well suited to canoeing, with canoe passes (flumes) at the locks. Some good hides, especially the one selected as the link. Good quality containers meant the logs were all dry. A great series.

The c/o has set many clambers in the SE London / Kent area. This award covers Mermaid Clamber, a free climb, probably a doddle to most people but quite challenging for me! Also Northcray Clamber, a ladder climb up a pine, and others.

There have been several additions to the "Pilgrim's Way Up" series, but this is the only one to have terrain rivalling the original. Not quite as many points as the first one - it lacked the necessity for prolonged and intensive effort to get anywhere near GZ that was such a major feature of the first. But the final approach to this one was trickier.

An amusing and interesting puzzle led to an unusual and interesting location - I can't say more without spoiling the puzzle. The final approach to the cache didn't quite live up to its billing - I had been anticipating something more challenging - but it was a great place for a cache.
